Take me out to the ballgame . . .

Little League baseball is in full swing! Gotta love this time of year. This week Ryan Lythgoe asked me to come to his baseball game. He was playing against his best friend, Janson Hodges' team (Janson is also in our ward).

Janson is on the Dodgers (here he is playing left field). Ryan is on the Giants. I told Ryan I would have a really hard time cheering for anyone playing for the Giants. :) He assured me they would 'whip the Dodgers' and I would want to see it.

The Lythgoes have been our (Corrine & I) home teachers for years. Ryan comes with his dad & Tyler. He even teaches the lesson every third month (he is seven years old - will be eight in August). He and I love to talk baseball. On Thursday when he invited me to his game I decided this would be a good day to go - I wasn't scheduled to work.

Ryan got a hit the first time I saw him at the plate (his mother wasn't there - she said he doesn't hit when she is watching so she should stay away). After getting a single he stole second and third. Unfortunately, they left him stranded at third. The game was a very tight game. Dodgers were up 2-1, Giants hit a two-run homer to go up 3-2, Dodgers scored again to tie the game up.

Tyler was there to cheer his brother on. He has been having problems with his knee so he has to stay off of it for some time - no track for him this spring. He is hoping to be ready for Cross Country again in the fall.

Here is Ryan getting some advice from his coach/dad during a pitching change. The Giants were the home team and with bases loaded the Dodgers changed pitchers. Ryan was on third and ended up scoring the winning run when the pitcher walked the batter! It was a fun game and of course Ryan was so happy to be on the winning team. Janson had a fun game as well. I assured him he was playing for the better team with the better uniforms - it was just an off day for the Dodgers. :)

One of the best parts of the game was seeing Ryan's coach - Nick Moody! It seems like yesterday Nick was the one playing baseball and everyone was watching him. Now his oldest son is playing ball -- this is Ryan with Jake Moody-- gotta laugh the black under the eyes! Oh to be 7 years old!

Basketball, Ty, the Barlows & the Birds

I have had a great day today! I drove out to Palmdale to see Ty's last basketball game. I took Carly & Anna with me so they could play with cousins and Rachel could have some time. Michelle wasn't at the game because she had Enrichment. Instead of hiring a babysitter, she sent the kids with Zack and I watched them at the game.
The girls had a great time cheering for Ty and got so excited when he scored - and YES he did score several times. They also had fun playing with my camera. These pictures were taken by the kids.

Ty's team won so he was VERY excited. After the game we all headed back to the Bird's house. Three booster chairs across my back seat made for a very interesting trip. The girls were very fascinated with my "movie map" (Navigation) and Lori wanted to hear it 'talk' as we went home.

Uncle Zack made everyone lunch and the kids had a great time jumping on the trampoline, playing games and hanging out. When Michelle returned she and Zack broke out the Wii and we learned how to bowl & played some doubles tennis. Carly was done bowling after about three frames so I took over. I didn't think it was going to be that big of a deal, but I really had a fun time - even if it wasn't for real. Ty & I played doubles tennis against Lori & Anna and it made for quite a few laughs.

Thanks for the fun times kids! Now we will have to do it again when Ty has a baseball game!

It's a Birthday - let's celebrate!

It was girls night out tonight as we celebrated Marj's birthday at Ottavio's. It was great to have a relaxing dinner with friends. Michelle, Corrine, Ami and I celebrated with Marj. I did capture Marj on camera blowing out the candle - we will keep that picture for blackmail. :)
