This weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Southern California Genealogical Society's Jamboree. It was a three day conference all about genealogy! I had so much fun! Barbara Likovich told me about this event several months ago. I have wanted to attend a conference, but I haven't been able to travel to where they were held. This one was in Burbank and so I was able to participate. I learned so much! I am rejuvenated again and so watch out - here I come! Those road blocks that I hit are coming down! :) There several classes held each day on a variety of subjects. I felt like I learned something in each one. One of my favorite was how to be a 'modern genealogist' without '23' file drawers of paperwork (so typical of anyone doing the work). The presenter shared a very logical way to digitize and store all of the documents in order to have it take up less space. I loved this concept. So, McKay, you will be getting some techy questions coming your way in order to get me started. I have a membership to Ancestry.com and haven't felt I utilize it to the best way I can and so what I learned from one of the presenters was very helpful. One of the classes showed us the top 25 websites to go for information. Wow, this was very exciting. Now I just need to find T-I-M-E to put it all to good use.
